I was so excited when Andrea and Jimmy chose me to officiate their wedding. I was even more excited when they told me it was at their old stomping grounds – Cal Poly Pomona, where they met. The campus is the home of the famous Kellogg House (of Kellogg cereal fame), a beautiful historical mansion that overlooks the campus yet still feels tucked away. All the gorgeous historical details lent to an intimate, simple yet old-world atmosphere to their practical wedding that suited them brilliantly.

When Jimmy and Andrea contacted me about being their wedding officiant for their wedding, they expressed wanting a calm, easy ceremony. They specifically wanted to celebrate their love of music and the home they’ve found in New Orleans, even though they wanted to celebrate here in California where their family still lives. Most importantly, they wanted a simple wedding with lots of love and no stress.

Other than Andrea’s shoes and the light Mardi Gras theme, my favorite part about their ceremony was that they requested this specific quote (on of my favorite new wedding quotes):

No union is more profound than marriage, for it embodies the highest ideals of love, fidelity, devotion, sacrifice, and family. In forming a marital union, two people become something greater than once they were.
Justice Anthony Kennedy

It was a joy to be the wedding minister for this serene, loving couple celebrating their love in an intimate and simple way. With mimosas!
